Now don’t get too worked up, it’s just laundry…
One of the biggest adjustments we’ve had to make here is learning how to get our clothes dried when the weather isn’t’ cooperating. We are already limited on the amount of clothes we can go through before running out and when it’s wet outside, clothes aren’t getting dried. I washed what you see here, three days ago. These babies have been hanging inside with air blowing on them, and outside for the brief window of the sun peeking through, until is started to rain again and they were brought back inside for rearranging and more air drying. And the worst part is, most of these clothes belong to my husband and kids, mine are still waiting to be washed… Hahaha this was not intentional.
To think that all the times before our new living conditions, I dreaded the one day I “have to do the laundry”. Oh how my perspective has changed. I didn’t realize how good I had it. With a washing machine large enough to hold 4x the amount of clothes my current washing machine can take. And a dryer, you guys a dryer that gets that same extra-large load of wet clothes, DRY in under two hours! I hope you think of us the next time you’re doing laundry and appreciate the simplicity, though still monotonous, this chore can be for those more fortunate to benefit from modern day luxuries.
I don’t know how the locals do laundry in the wet seasons….but I’m determined to figure this out! In the meantime, we’ll just keep re-wearing what we can until an item or two becomes dry enough to call it good.
Here’s a little tour of what doing laundry here looks like. (or an XL tour because I haven’t figured out how to resize the video!)
