For some reason, the Federal Reserve didn’t want a cybersecurity leader working from a random new country every few months – go figure! Starting a new job while also beginning full-time international travel and homeschool didn’t seem wise. While Alicia is still life coaching, her focus is not currently on expanding the business.
So how do we make ends meet? Selling everything and swapping a house full of possessions for a suitcase is liberating! Our home’s substantial value increase (huge blessing!) provided most of our funding. Plus vehicles, furniture, tools… an endless list of stuff, and prior savings. If you owned your house prior to 2020, you may be surprised how many years of take-home pay you could bank.
With no debt, housing, utilities, etc., smart travel costs us less than our U.S. living. Depending on where we are in the world, furnished short-term rentals often beat our old mortgage, and public transport is cheaper than car payments and insurance. How long will we continue? Until the money runs out or the Lord tells us to settle somewhere. At this rate, we could go a couple more years and still have enough to re-establish.
